Building for Tomorrow, Today
 Prayer Guide
Three week, five-day prayer Cycle

In the Bible, the number FIVE represents GRACE. From August 31 – September 20, for three consecutive five-day periods, the Grace Honolulu family is encouraged to pray following this guide each Monday through Friday: August 31-September 4, September 7-11, and September 14-18.

Each day, we’ll have a specific prayer focus and trust that God will do amazing things as we consistently call on Him. We will be starting our prayer campaign with three days of prayer and fasting from Tuesday, September 1 – Thursday, September 3.

Our weekly Thursday Empowered Online will continue and you’re encouraged to join us as we pray these points of prayer together.
Main Thought:
The church is God’s design and desire to live and move among humanity. The Lord takes residence and presides in a community of people wholly dedicated to seeing God’s kingdom and will be done on earth. When the church was birthed on the day of Pentecost, it was filled with the Presence of God. The Spirit’s presence energized those young disciples to be witnesses to their expanding world.  Leadership, discipleship and spiritual gifts were given so the church could be established, equipped and empowered for the mission. As it was before and even more today, we desperately need God’s presence and power moving through Grace Honolulu. We will see God’s mighty presence provide, direct and protect.  â€œWith God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

Key Passages:
Arise shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.  Isaiah 60:1

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 17 …; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Prayer Focus:
Pray that our congregation would be so full of God’s glorious presence that we would powerfully impact our community. Pray that God’s design and desire be fully expressed through a growing Grace Honolulu family.

Ask the Lord: “What can I do to create space in my heart to experience a greater measure of God’s presence and power? How could God’s presence and power work through me to impact our community?”
Main Thought:
We are a church where people can belong before they believe, grow in their relationship with Christ, and pursue their God-given purpose. Therefore, it’s so important for our church leaders and congregation to continue growing in their relationship with God while serving and encouraging one another.

In Exodus 17, Israel’s enemies came to attack them. The spiritual, national and strategic leaders; Moses, Aaron and Hur took a position overlooking the battlefield. Military forces led by Moses’ disciple, Joshua, engaged in combat directly with the enemy. When Moses got weary in leading symbolized by the raised hands, key relationships stood by and supported Moses until the battle was won. The armies needed to be in unity and under authority to obtain that victory. Everyone was involved.

Key Passages:
The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Exodus 17:8-13

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.  2 Timothy 2:1-4

Prayer Focus:
For Our Leaders: Let’s pray and support Grace Honolulu’s leadership team – Senior Pastors, staff members, ministry leaders and grace group leaders. May our leaders have faith, wisdom, insight and courage to lead in this unprecedented COVID season and as they work to secure the purchase of the property.

For Our Congregation: With this pandemic crisis separating us physically and socially, we need to find ways to creatively stay connected with each other. Fight for one another to stay strong in the faith and not drift away. May we have unity of heart, faith that is released through generous giving, ownership of the ministry & mission, and the courage to obey what God is asking us to do.

Ask the Lord: “What is my part in supporting Grace Honolulu? What amount of my time, talent, or treasure can be given to see our church grow and thrive?”
Main Thought:
From the very beginning, Grace Honolulu was established for the primary purpose of reaching the lost, making disciples, raising up leaders, and extending God’s kingdom into the world.

By purchasing The Willows as our future home, we have an opportunity to make a significant impact in one of Oahu’s most densely populated areas by reaching many families, young adults and college students. More than just meeting on Sundays, we can be an ongoing continual presence in the Mo’ili’ili community. We often say, “Everyone’s welcome because nobody’s perfect and with God, anything’s possible. Because of the strategic location of The Willows, together, we can more effectively continue to reach students and raise up next generational leaders at the University of Hawai’i.

Key Passages:
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities. Isaiah 54:2-3

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...” Matthew 28:19-20

“Ask of me, and I will make the nations (people groups) your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” Psalm 2:8

“One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” Luke 19:10

Prayer Focus:
With the above in mind, pray that we would have a special grace to reach the people groups specified, the unleashing of influence, and the establishment of our church in this community. Pray for God to give us wisdom and insight as to how we can demonstrate God’s love to this community.

Ask the Lord: “What serving role or financial role will I/we fulfill to help establish Grace Honolulu in this community? As a member of this spiritual family, what will be my financial investment to provide a home for the new family members being brought to Christ?”
Main Thought:
Right now, the needs of our community are many. When many people are without work and struggling financially, God is faithful, His resources are limitless, and He always provides for His people. One of the ways He often provides is through the generosity of others. In unique times and seasons, God will call on His people to give sacrificially to a great call. As a church, we have a unique opportunity to partner together in securing a church property that will be our home for generations to come. As we stretch our faith together, remember, it’s not about equal giving, but about equal sacrifice as we partner with God in what He’s doing.

Key Passages:
“But just as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge…in your love for us – see that you excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8:7

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38

“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper…” Proverbs 11:24-25

Prayer Focus:
Pray for those who have lost their job and/or income due to the COVID crisis. Pray for an abundance of resources and divine provision to meet every need. Pray also for God to provide the resources that Grace Honolulu needs to purchase the property and that our people would have an infectious abundance of faith-filled giving.

Ask the Lord: “What is the financial investment you want me/us to give as a response to your call of faith and generosity to give to someone in need? To provide for the resources needed for our future church home?”
Main Thought:
Grace Honolulu has been faithful to our mission to reach the lost, make disciples, and raise up leaders. All of this has been done without a permanent place to call “home”. For nearly two decades, we’ve been a mobile church renting office space and meeting space. Now is the time for Grace Honolulu to secure a permanent home so we can be even more effective in fulfilling our mission. We believe God has prepared The Willows to be such a place for us.

Key Passages:
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1-2 NKJV

Prayer Focus:
Pray for both the preparation and provision of our future home. Pray specifically for favor with the owner, real estate agents, city and state officials, architects, contractors, financiers, community leaders and other key professionals and influencers.

Ask the Lord: “What should be my/our gift that will help ‘Building for Tomorrow, Today’ become reality? To give towards the amount needed to secure the future church property?”
